PPBC Clubhouse & Green

Prospect Park Bowls Club is a friendly outdoor lawn bowls club located in the heart of Prospect Park in Reading, Berkshire. Founded in 1913 and run by an executive committee, our club maintains a first-class bowling green and welcomes all ages and abilities interested in the sport of lawn bowls.

One of the main features of Prospect Park Bowls Club is our programme of interclub fixtures giving members the opportunity to play competitive matches against other local clubs, providing a chance to showcase their skills and enjoy friendly competition. As well as friendly matches against local clubs, including men's, women's and mixed games, we have men's teams in the LV County League (>55s) and Kennet League and are looking to grow our women's team this season.

In addition, full members can play in our club competitions. These internal competitions allow members to compete against each other and test their abilities in various formats, such as Novices Championship Singles, Handicap Singles, Two Woods Singles, Open Pairs, Club Pairs, Club Triples, Len Batt Memorial Cup, and Len Wheeler Memorial Trophy. Many newer players are able to have their first experience of match play in our Monday Night Triples League. This 'friendly' club competition is a great way for beginners to gain in confidence as club members of all levels and experience take part.

Prospect Park Bowling Club boasts a purpose-built clubhouse with a terrace that overlooks the green. Members and visitors can enjoy an evening watching the bowls from the terrace while sipping a refreshing drink from the bar. The clubhouse provides a cosy and welcoming atmosphere, where members can socialise and relax after a game and on Fridays, enjoy games night with cards and boardgames.

For those interested in trying out the sport of lawn bowls, Prospect Park Bowls Club offers free use of equipment and tuition. All that is needed to start is a pair of flat shoes. The club is open weekly from 1:30 p.m. during the bowling season from mid-April to end September, and anyone interested can simply call in and speak to a steward. Our stewards are member volunters responsible for managing the clubhouse and setting up the green ready for bowling and will be happy to show you around, introduce you to the green and answer your questions.

The club encourages new members to join and experience the joys of playing lawn bowls. With its friendly atmosphere, beautiful surroundings, and regular fixtures and competitions, Prospect Park Bowls Club is the perfect place for individuals in Reading to enjoy and excel in the sport.
